Chick Policies

ORDER MINIMUMS

TEN chicks are required to ship.

​

ORDER MAXIMUMS

Keep in mind that we maintain SMALL breeder flocks and cannot accommodate bulk orders.  We reserve the right to split any order that may require more eggs to be set than we can reasonably accommodate for a single hatch.  We will ship a maximum of 25 chicks per box, and each box must have at least 15 chicks for the safety of the chicks.  If you have any questions, reach out before placing your order!

ORDER POLICIES

All chicks are straight run (unsexed) unless expressly noted on the breed page.

 

You are not entitled to any compensation for there being roosters in your chick order; straight run is straight run.  It is your job to plan accordingly.

​

There are no guarantees made as to specific color or degree of speckling on eggs in any colorful egg breed, project breeds, or hybrids, nor are there guarantees as to specific physical traits in these birds - results in these breeding pens can vary.

​

We do not vaccinate chicks.

​

Cancellations to your order may be made up to 24 hours after you place the order.  After 24 hours, no cancellations may be made.  Once an order is placed, you will need to contact us for any alterations to the order.

​

Placing an order does not mean your chicks will ship immediately.  We work through orders on a first come, first served basis as eggs are available, setting eggs to hatch as orders come in and other orders hatch.  We are not a hatchery.  We are a small farm.  We do not schedule mass hatches!  Your eggs are set specifically to fulfill your order.  If you are looking to have chicks within a certain time frame, you need to contact us BEFORE YOU ORDER to see what our current wait times are.

If you place an order that does NOT meet our order minimum or that EXCEEDS the order limit for a specific breed, we will contact you via e-mail to alter the order.  If we do not hear back from you within 24 hours, we will cancel your order.

SHIPPING POLICIES

We do our UTMOST to set everyone, most especially the chicks, up for success in shipping.  Every chick that leaves our farm is nurtured from the time their eggs are collected, through the incubation process, and carefully monitored during hatching.  We utilize a professional grade incubator, which maintains constant temperature and humidity to ensure the best hatch rates and healthiest chicks possible.  We only ship vigorous chicks, and any chicks that may require a little help from us are held back to receive that help before finding a home locally.

 

We will only ship chicks Priority Express.  These shipments are $75.  We had ZERO reported losses in 2024 utilizing Priority Express shipping and most orders arrived ahead of schedule.  All of our chicks are under 24 hours old when USPS receives them, as per USPS regulations.  We cannot guarantee Overnight delivery.

Selecting a "Desired Hatching Month" does not 100% guarantee your chicks will be shipped during that month, only that we will do our best to accommodate your order within your Desired Hatching Month.  We will notify you prior to shipping so you can make arrangements for their arrival.  We ship chicks early in the week to avoid delays over weekends.  If fewer chicks than ordered hatch when we are working to fulfill your order, we reserve the right to a) substitute another breed of greater or equal value to the chicks you did order that we ran short on, b) ship short and refund you the cost of the chicks that did not hatch as ordered, so long as shipping minimum is met, or c) ship another breed that is on your order, and refund any difference in price.  We try to mitigate these situations by setting extra eggs (and lots of them), but we're dealing with biological processes that don't always play by the book.

When your chicks ship, your tracking number will be provided to the e-mail you place on file with your order, so make sure it’s an e-mail you check frequently, as we are not liable for any injury to chicks as a result of you missing that e-mail.

 

Our packaging is carefully thought out, and we really try to go the extra mile to make sure your chicks are taken care of.  We utilize quality shippers with no tight corners for chicks to huddle too tightly and injure one another.  Every shipment is equipped with nest padding and a 72 hour heat pack, as seasonally required.  Gro-Gel is included for chicks to munch on until they reach their new home.

All chick orders are accompanied by form VS 9-3.

 

LIVE ARRIVAL

We guarantee chicks for 24 hours once they reach your destination post office.  You are REQUIRED to pick them up the day of arrival and provide them proper care or the Live Arrival Guarantee is null and void.  Any problems with your shipment are to be reported within 24 hours, no exceptions.

​

We take shipping chicks extremely seriously.  We do everything in our power to have chicks arrive alive and well.  This includes shipping all our chick orders Express for 1-2 day delivery.  In the event that you receive fewer live chicks than ordered, report a loss through the link below.  You will be offered replacements or a refund for the per bird value of losses (less our shipping costs) at our discretion, depending on the number of losses in the shipment and our current breed availability.

 

Ten chicks are still required to ship replacements safely.

 

We will not provide reimbursement or replacement for extra chicks we may ship with your order.

 

We do require photos of the exterior and interior of the box, including any deceased chicks, in order to receive a refund or replacement chicks.

​

Replacement shipments are subject to a shipping fee of $75.  This covers our costs for shippers, as well as the padding, Gro-Gel, heat packs, and Express shipping costs.

​

USPS Priority Express is the fastest service offered by USPS.  However, overnight delivery is not guaranteed.  We do not offer any guarantee based on a given delivery time-frame.

 

We try to be accommodating when and where we are able to be, within reason.  We do reserve the right to resolve any problems at our discretion.

Hatching egg orders are required to contain one dozen eggs minimum.

ORDER MAXIMUMS

Keep in mind that we maintain SMALL breeder flocks and cannot accommodate bulk orders.  If you would like more than ONE dozen hatching eggs of any breed, you need to contact us ahead of time to discuss options or place separate orders.  We reserve the right to split any order made that is too large for us to ship with reasonable belief that the eggs will arrive in tact or that may require more eggs than we can reasonably accommodate.  If the only option available on a breed page here on our website is 6 eggs, that is the maximum we can ship on that breed per customer per order.

HATCH RATES

Know BEFORE BUYING that when you purchase shipped hatching eggs, there is a lower success rate overall than when you purchase eggs right off a local farm or when you purchase chicks.  Hatching eggs are a gamble.  Once eggs leave our custody, we do not have any control whatsoever as to their handling or their condition upon arrival.  We cannot control how USPS handles them.  We cannot control your incubation methods.  We cannot control your hatch rate.  Our eggs are regularly checked for fertility.  We do try to put extra eggs in shipments when possible, and we package our eggs for success.

ORDER POLICIES

Purchase of our hatching eggs does not mean your eggs ship out immediately!  A purchase entitles you to a slot in our books for shipped eggs.  We ship eggs weekly and we are at the mercy of what the hens lay for us each week.  We work through orders on a first come, first served basis.  Please contact us for current wait times BEFORE YOU ORDER. We do not allow the selection of shipping date for hatching eggs.

 

When your eggs ship, you will be notified of the shipment and its tracking number via the e-mail you place on file with your order, so make sure it’s an e-mail you check frequently, as we are not liable for any damage to the eggs as a result of your missing that e-mail.

SHIPPING POLICIES

Shipping via USPS Priority Mail is included in the price of our hatching eggs.  Priority Mail Express is offered as an upgrade for hatching egg shipments at checkout.

 

Upon arrival of hatching egg shipments, we encourage you to open your box at the post office, in front of a USPS employee.  We are not responsible for damage to eggs or delays in transit and we no longer send replacement shipments.  All shipments are fully insured and it is your responsibility to file claims where necessary.

​

Hatching egg orders are nonrefundable.  Order at your own risk.  We advise that you purchase chicks rather than hatching eggs if you do not wish to accept the risks associated with shipping eggs.

​

Make SURE you provide us a valid phone number with your order - hatching egg orders are normally held at the post office for pickup.

 

All hatching egg shipments are accompanied by Form VS 9-3.

​

​We do reserve the right to resolve any problems at our discretion.
